No, you are not covered by Helpling health insurance, as you use the platform as a self-employed service provider and are not employed by Helpling at any time.

There is a general health insurance obligation in Germany. This means that every person living in Germany must be insured with a statutory or private health insurance company. We therefore ask you to seek suitable health insurance.

International health insurance:

Unfortunately, international health insurance or travel insurance is not sufficient, as the European EHIC card(European Health Insurance Card) is only valid for vacation trips and short-term stays. It is therefore advisable to take out insurance with a German health insurance company within three months of arriving in Germany.

Contributions:

If you already have statutory health insurance in Germany and have only recently become self-employed, you may be paying contributions that are too high (statutory health insurance contributions are based on income). A more favorable classification may be possible or private insurance may be recommended.

The subject of health insurance in Germany is very complex and you are not always free to choose your health insurance (statutory/private). It is often very difficult to find the right health insurance, especially for freelancers and the self-employed.

If you have any further questions, it is advisable to contact a professional insurance broker.
