The Digital Services Act (DSA) is a new EU regulation designed to make online platforms safer and more transparent. It has been fully in effect since February 2024 and applies to all online platforms, including Helpling.
Why is this important?
The DSA helps protect users and service providers by ensuring illegal content, goods, or services are not offered online. As part of this, platforms like Helpling must take steps to confirm that the services offered comply with the law.
What does this mean for you as a service provider?
Rest assured, the DSA doesn’t introduce complex new rules for you. It simply means that:
- No illegal services or behavior (e.g., offering goods or services prohibited by law, hate speech) are allowed on the platform.
This isn’t about taxes or finances—our focus is on making Helpling a safe and trusted place for everyone.
How do you confirm compliance?
It’s easy! We’ve made the process simple:
- You’ll see a popup in your app where you can confirm your compliance.
- If you can’t find the popup, no worries—just send us an email with “I confirm that I comply with the Digital Services Act..”
- If you’re fairly new to the platform, you’ve already agreed to this during your sign-up.
What counts as illegal services or behavior?
Illegal services or behavior are defined by existing laws, either at the EU level or in individual countries. For example:
- Content involving terrorism or hate speech would be two examples
If something is only illegal in certain countries, it’s typically addressed within those territories.
